Amasya ili, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde bulunan bir ildir. Merkezi Amasya'dır. 2010 TUIK verilerine göre merkez ilçe ile birlikte 7 ilçe, bunlara bağlı 20 belde ve 349 köyü vardır.

Amasya'nın bilinen ilk adı "Amaseia"'dır. Bu isim dünyanın ilk coğrafyacısı olarak bilenen Strabon tarafından verilmiştir. "Amaseia" amozonlardaki yaşayan halkın kraliçelerine verdikleri isimdir.

Coğrafya[]

Karadeniz Bölgesi'nin Orta Karadeniz Bölümü'n de bir ildir. İlin komşuları: Kuzeyde Samsun, batıda Çorum, doğuda ve güneydoğuda Tokat, güneyde Yozgat.

İlçeleri[]

  • Merkez ilçesi: Yüzölçümü 1730 km², nüfusu 158,714 kişi olup, 99,900’ü il merkezinde, 58.814’ü ise belde ve köylerde yaşamaktadır. Aydınca, Doğantepe, Ezinepazar, Uygur, Yassıçal, Yeşil Yenice ve Ziyaret olmak üzere 7 beldesi ve 100 köyü bulunmaktadır.
  • Göynücek İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 578 km², nüfusu 17.614 kişi olup, 2.776’sı ilçe merkezinde, 14.838’i ise belde ve köylerinde yaşamaktadır.
  • Gümüşhacıköy İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 653 km², nüfusu 29.795 kişi olup, 14.057’si ilçe merkezinde, 15.738’ide belde ve köylerde yaşamaktadır.
  • Hamamözü İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 202 km², nüfusu 6.161 kişi olup, 1.511’i ilçe merkezinde, 4.650’si köylerde yaşamaktadır.
  • Merzifon İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 970 km², nüfusu 65.000 kişi olup, 50.000 ilçe merkezinde, 15.000’i köy ve beldelerde yaşamaktadır.
  • Suluova İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 516 km², nüfusu 94.123 kişi olup, 72.715’i ilçe merkezinde, 21.408’i belde ve köylerde yaşamaktadır.
  • Taşova İlçesi : Yüzölçümü 1.041 km², nüfusu 35.186 kişi olup,9,283'ü ilçe merkezinde 25,903’sı belde ve köylerde yaşamaktadır...

Tarihi[]

Yapılan arkeolojik araştırma ve bulgulara göre Amasya'da ilk yerleşme M.Ö. 5500 yıllarında başlayıp Hitit, Frig, Kimmer, İskit, Lidya, Pers, Hellen, Pontus, Roma, Bizans, Danişmend, Selçuklu, İlhanlı ve Osmanlı dönemlerinde de kesintisiz olarak devam etmiştir.

Pontuslar (M.Ö.333 - M.Ö.26) tarafından yapılan Kral Kaya Mezarları, günümüze kadar ulaşarak kentin anıt eserleri arasına girmiştir.

700 yıl Bizans egemenliğinde kalan Amasya, Melik Ahmet Danişmend Gazi tarafından 1075 yılında fethedilerek bu kentte ilk Türk - İslam Egemenliği kurulmuştur.

Osmanlı Anadoluda Türklerin ilk şehir hayatına geçiş yaptıkları yerlerden birisi de Amasya olup öz be öz Türk oymaklarının Amasya ve civarında yerleşmiş olması, korunaklı bir yapıya sahip olması nedenleri ile Osmanlı Şehzadelerinin Amasyada yetiştirilmesi uygun bulunmuştur. Bu Sebeplerledir Şehzade Çelebi Mehmet Timur nedeni ile dağılan Anadolu birliğini Amasya ve civarındaki Türkmenlerden sağladığı güçle tekrar sağlamıştır.[3] . .

Şehzade Yıldırım Bayezid, Çelebi Mehmet, Şehzade Murat (II), Şehzade Ahmet Çelebi, Şehzade Mehmet (II), Şehzade Alâeddin, Şehzade Bayezid (II)), Şehzade Ahmet, Şehzade Murat, Şehzade Mustafa, Şehzade Bayezid ve Şehzade Murad (III) çeşitli tarihlerde Amasya'da Valilik yapmışlardır.

Bu dönemde kentte birçok ilim admı yetişip saray, çeşme, medrese, cami, türbe v.b. kalıcı eserlerle, şehir bir kültür merkezi olarak tarihteki yerini almıştır.

Tarihin akışı içerisinde önemli roller üstlenen Amasya, Kurtuluş Savaşı sırasında yine ön plana çıkmış, Kurtuluş mücadelesinin planları bu kentte hazırlanmıştır.
